The Local Transect gallery contains several coordinated sets of images from different towns and cities. For each city name, there are three or more Transect Zones (T-zones) that together comprise a local transect, showing typical habitats from less urban to more urban. In very large cities like Philadelphia, we have assigned subzones, like T4-N for Neighborhood, T4-A for Attached and T4-U for Urban. These are examples of how one might apply subzones of T4. In small towns, there is usually no need for more than one T4 zone. Calibration of the Transect is always local; the zones and subzones are based on an analysis of that place and may be assigned names that make sense.
