Pottstown has head-out diagonal parking. Head-out has several benefits over the conventional head-in arrangement. (1) It is safer for drivers pulling out into traffic, and for bicyclists and drivers in the travelway. (2) it is safer for children who are being let out of the car, as the open car doors will channel kids toward the sidewalk and block them from moving toward the thoroughfare. (Does not apply to sliding doors.) (3) It is safer and easier to load or unload the trunk.

Downside: (1) Takes more skill to park. (2) Car exhaust on sidewalk cafes.
